About Bookmarks and Favorites
Ywww building blocksou've found sites that you'd like to return to (this site, perhaps) while surfing the Web. Web browsers, like the one you're using to view this page, give you an easy way to "remember" a site's address with built-in "bookmarking" features. When you bookmark a site, you add its URL, or web address, to a list that your browser saves. After you've bookmarked a page, its name appears in a list that you can find in your browser's menu.

Netscape Navigator and FireFox call these saved addresses "bookmarks" while Internet Explorer calls them "favorites." When you want to visit a bookmarked page again, just select the page's name from the menu and your browser automatically finds and displays the page. Its a concept we take for granted today but, imagine if you had to write down the addresses or, worse yet, server addresses which are long strings of numbers? Yikes!

To bookmark a link without visiting the page, simply right-click (Windows) or click and hold (Macintosh) the URL it links to.

If your bookmark list has become unruly and disorganized, they can easily be organized and edited into custom-named folders. Go to the "Edit Bookmarks" option under your bookmark list in Netscape and FireFox or go to "Organize Favorites"under your favorites list in Internet Explorer. You can also rename individual bookmarks so that you can better recognize them at a later date.
