What Are Expert Font Sets?
Bman holding expert set exampleecause font files are limited to containing 256 characters within them, font manufacturers like Adobe (one of the biggest producers of fonts and the creator of the PostScript font) often offer what is called an Expert font set.

Expert font sets contain special characters that are not contained within a traditional font typeface. These special characters sometimes include fractions, special versions of some traditional characters and symbols that are not included in the standard font. One may also find that a font manufacturer sometimes offers a font in a Small Cap (rather than lowercase letters, the file contains smaller versions of the uppercase letters) and/or Oldstyle letter versions. These styles vary slightly different from the traditional fonts to offer some further versatility and options to the type-sensitive designer.slug
