Little Bit About Pixels The number of bits used to display
each pixel determines how many colors a pixel can display. In 8-bit color
mode, a color monitor uses 8 bits per pixel which makes it possible
to display 256 (or 2 to the 8th power) colors on-screen. Each pixel in
a color monitor is made up of three dots; a red, a blue and a green (RGB).
Optimally, the three dots are focused on the same spot which would create
a very smooth image. The quality of a monitor depends on its resolution
which is to say how many pixels it can display in a given area and how
many bits are contained in each pixel. Tip: Affordable Graphic Design classes are available near you? Sign up for FREE information from top design schools. Some Links You May Find Useful
