PowerPoint: Making a Good Presentation

The program's usefulness certainly isn't hurt by being part of the immensely popular Microsoft Office. Microsoft Office seems to be present on most every computer in the world in one form or another.

But what can PowerPoint do? Well, it can do a lot. PowerPoint comes with a wide array of tools and supporting applications that enable even novice computer users to create presentations. With PowerPoint you can:

  • Open and create PowerPoint presentations.
  • Start with a slew of templates that can be adapted for specific needs.
  • Create master pages for title and content slides.
  • Print slides in either black & white or color from an office printer.
  • Create files that can be output as slides or transparencies for projection.
  • Create self-running presentations for kiosks or trade shows.
  • Import Quicktime movies, photos and audio clips.
  • Utilize a number of animation controls to create impressive multimedia-like shows.

PowerPoint is available for both Macintosh and Windows systems and is almost seamlessly cross-platform compatible. The program is available alone for approximately $140 or as part of the Microsoft Office for $425.
