Floppy
Disks Aren't So Floppy Anymore
So, why is it that floppy disks aren't very, well,
floppy? Actually they used to be "floppy" back in the old days
(the 1980s). Back then, floppy disks were quite a bit larger than they
are today. They measured 5.25" square and were made of a flexible
plastic material (like the ones to the right). They could easily bend
if you held them horizontally by the corner. Heck, you could actually
